The
Precision cartridge you receive is built in a true manufacturing environment
and to the same standards as a new, OEM cartridge. All key wear parts such as
magnetic rollers, photo-sensitive drums and wiper blades are replaced with parts
that meet or exceed original specifications. The quality of the toner itself,
from consistency to particle size to composition, is at, or above, original
OEM standards. The cartridge you receive from Precision is functionally identical
to a new OEM cartridge with all of the same attributes.
Except one ... cost. |

Unlike a new cartridge, which contains components intended for disposal, a
compatible cartridge is retrofitted with heavy-duty replacement parts designed
specifically to last. Compatible cartridges contain high-quality components
and toners, which yield outstanding results. Compatible technology has become
so precise that compatible cartridges often exceed the original equipment
manufacturers standards.

Fact and Fiction
Monochrome laser toners can be classified into 4 different
categories:
1) OEM manufacturer
2) compatible/remanufactured
3) refurbished
4) refilled.
Quality and price:
Compatible and OEM manufacturer provides the highest print quality and the
lowest failure rate of all toner cartridges. Compatible cartridges usually
provide 20-30% more yield at a price below the OEM provided cartridges. Refurbished
and refills realize very high failure rates and their initial price is low.
However, when considering the high failure rate they become the most expensive
and job interfering toner cartridge to use.
Not all new OEM toner cartridges are new. The next time that you
purchase a brand new toner cartridge from HP, Lexmark, or any other manufacturer,
look for a small sticker on the casing of the cartridge. You might be surprised
at what you read! Most new toner cartridges from these major manufacturers
are actually remanufactured toner cartridges.

Compatible
vs. Refurbished
vs. Refill
A compatible (remanufactured) toner cartridge
from PPS, undergoes a rigorous quality control inspection
process. First, the entire toner cartridge is disassembled. Any waste toner
is eliminated, and all of the parts are thoroughly cleaned with compressed
air. The next step is to rebuild the cartridge, replacing all components including
the wipers, magnetic rollers, doctor blades and photo-sensitive drum. Once
the cartridge has been re-assembled, it is refilled with toner, tested, and
finally packaged for shipment. Essentially you now have a new cartridge with
only the casing itself being reused.
A refurbished toner cartridge is first cleaned
with compressed air and the major components magnetic rollers; doctor blades
and photo-sensitive drum are not replaced but reused. Please note that the
original components have a life expectancy of the original toner yield. Thus
the refill toner may not be completely used because of the drum failure.
A refill toner cartridge is simply a used cartridge
that a hole is drilled into the cartridge and refilled with toner and the
hole plugged. Refill toners have a high rate of failures and should never
be used in laser printers.
