No Extra Controller

The Aerial 4mm DAT reaches its highest performance when sharing the SCSI controller with, and backing up, Aerial-DISKs. Configured with other Aerial products in a storage subsystem, PerifiTech's SCSI drivers provide the means to build a custom, high performance SCSI solution with a single controller.

Compatibility - Guaranteed !

TGVARCS is compatible with NetWare 5.x and Computer Associate's ARCserveIT and certified for NetWare 3.x & 4.x as well as ARCserveIT 4, 5, & 6.x. TGVNT is Windows NT and ARCserveIT certified, and TGVOS2 is Computer Associate's and OS/2 certified. This provides compatibility assurance in a true "plug-n-play" performance. Traditional ASPI drivers can result in poor performance, problems backing up large files, and system lock-ups. They sacrifice performance to gain connectivity. The PerifiTech solution provides complete control over the sum of the individual parts, from a single vendor, resulting in guaranteed compatibility.

Supports Multiple Operating Systems

Aerial 4mm DATs are supported under SCO UNIX System V, SCO Open Desktop and by ARCserveIT. DATs will also perform backup and restore functions for a multitude of OS platforms through Computer Associates' complete selection of client agents for ARCserveIT. Using ARCserveIT, the Aerial DAT will backup and restore Citrix MetaFrame and MS Exchange files under Windows NT. The Aerial 4mm DAT is also supported by SCO's inherent tar and "CPIO" tape commands.

The Ultimate High Performance DAT Backup Solution for low to mid-capacity file servers. PerifiTech seamlessly integrates 4mm DAT mechanisms with data compression technology, high speed SCSI controllers, and specifically tuned drivers (NLM, SYS or ADD) to make the perfect companion for a Novell, NT, OS/2 or UNIX server or workstation.

Server-Based Backup With Emphasis On Performance

PerifiTech's certified TGVARCS drivers for Novell NetWare/IntranetWare, Windows NT, and OS/2 were developed specifically to enhance the Aerial 4mm DAT under Computer Associate's ARCserveIT and ARCsolo. They are not "generic" SCSI tape drivers, and therefore do not have any of the limitations of generic drivers. Each driver optimizes the server's SCSI I/O allowing an Aerial 4mm DAT to backup at speeds that reach the system's full potential -- without degrading the network's overall performance. Backing up during the day while the server is "live", is now practical under ARCserveIT.

Backing Up Novell and Windows NT Networks

Under optimal conditions, the Aerial 4mm DAT DDS-3 is capable of backing up a NetWare server at speeds in excess of 110 MB per minute on a standard 125 meter DDS-3 cartridge. Normal commercial data can be written to tape at 70 to 85 MB per minute and restored at 70 to 85 MB per minute. Under Windows NT, the Aerial 4mm DAT DDS-3 will backup commercial data at 80 to 95 MB per minute, with similar restore speeds.
Aerial 4mm DAT DDS-2 NetWare backup speeds are: 100 MB per minute optimal and 50 to 65 MB per minute of commercial data. Under Windows NT, the Aerial 4mm DAT DDS-2 will backup commercial data at 60 to 75 MB per minute with similar restore speeds.
