Reliability and Data Integrity

All Aerial DLT's feature powerful Reed Solomon ECC error correction: 64-bit Cyclical Redundancy Check (CRC) on each 4K of data on the media and end-to-end 16-bit CRC on each record, overlapped with SCSI parity checking on the SCSI bus and internal data paths. These features result in an unequaled hard error rate of 1 error in 1047 bits. Other critical reliability specifications include a head life of 30,000 hours, media usage averaging 50,000 passes, and an MTBF of 200,000 hours.

Data Warehousing

PerifiTech's family of DLT Autoloaders integrates the same high performance tape engines used in the ADLT-7050 and ADLT-4050. With 5, 7 and 10 cartridge options, and multi-rack library magazines, DLT Autoloaders offer fast, unattended backup and capacities up to 980GB in external subsystems and multi-terabyte in rack mount configurations.

Supports Multiple Operating Systems

Although PerifiTech SCSI Enhancement Kits offer performance enhancements specific to NetWare, Windows NT and OS/2, the Aerial ADLT-7050 and ADLT-4050 are also ideal solutions for other operating environments. Aerial DLTs are supported under most variants of Unix through Computer Associate's ARCserveIT and wide selection of client agents including SUN/Solaris, HP/UX and IBM/AIX.

The Ultimate Backup Solution for Novell   NetWare/IntranetWare, MS Windows NT and IBM OS/2

The Aerial DLT family of half inch streaming tape drives efficiently performs data backup for mid-range and high-end network servers. The ADLT-7050 (70GB), ADLT-4050 (40GB) and ADLT-3050 (30GB) achieve significant advantages in performance and capacity over other tape drives in their class.
The ADLT-7050 offers an unparalleled combination of 70GB capacity per cartridge (with 2:1 data compression) and a sustained native data transfer rate of 5MB/second. The ADLT-4050 features a data capacity of 40GB per cartridge with compression, and is capable of a sustained data transfer rate of 3MB/second.

Backup with an Emphasis on Performance and Capacity

The ADLT-7050 features a new, innovative Symmetric Phase Recording Technique, and a flexible four channel adaptive recording system to achieve its 70GB capacity and 5MB/sec transfer rate. The ADLT-4050 uses dual channel read/write head technology. Both drives are built with performance proven high-efficiency data compression technology that supports various block sizes, and a tape mark directory to minimize data access time. An adaptive cache buffering system automatically accommodates slower host data rates for minimized tape repositioning. All Aerial DLT's are backwards read compatible with previous generations of DLT drives.

DLT technologies, coupled with a PerifiTech SCSI Enhancement Kit, optimize the server's SCSI I/O allowing the tape drive to run at speeds that reach the system's full data transfer rate potential. With normal operating conditions and Computer Associate's ARCserveIT, Aerial DLTs can backup a NetWare 4.X server at speeds in excess of 165 MB per minute or 9+ GB per hour. Restores occur at 80 to 100 MB per minute.

Using ARCserveIT with optimal conditions, Aerial DLTs can backup data up to 640+ MB per minute under Windows NT. Restores occur at 340 to 629 MB per minute. Under IBM OS/2 using Computer Associate's ARCsolo, Aerial DLTs will backup commercial data at 160 to 175 MB per minute, with similar restore speeds.
